Text

To His Excellency the President of the United States,
Washington, DC

Mr. President
I received your letter only this morning, having been in Washington the last five days endeavoring to be of assistance in connection with the Russian situation.

From daily talks with the Secretary of Labor I know you are informed as to my views and my personal situation. I was, furthermore, finally assured by the Secretary that you were willing to accept my standpoint as to my possibilities for personal service as being correct.
I hope to be of real service to the cause of internationalism which, like yourself, I place above all else, and also to the American government, by remaining in this country.

Very respectfully,
Wm English Walling
