Hon. William Kent,
House of Reps,
Wash, DC

Thank you for your two telegrams of last night. I take it the one relating to alien land bill is authoritive but of course by its terms it cannot be communicated to those most interested. The two previous administrations have officially communicated their views to the Chief Executive of this State upon the subject of alien land bills and legislation affecting Japanese I see no reason why the present administration if it has views upon these subjects and desires our legislation to be in accordance with those views should not also officially express itself. I have assumed that the Federal Government thoroughly understands the measures that have been proposed at the present session of the legislature and indeed I have been informed that these measures have been the subject of discussion at Washington and I assume of course that the present national administration has no complaint regarding any of this legislation or that complaint would have been made in the usual manner and through the ordinary channel. I shall be pleased to transmit to you or to those you may suggest any information that may be desired.
