My dear Cardinal Gibbons:
Thank you for your letter of the 16th. I am not unmindful of the very grave food situation as thoughtfully presented by His Eminence the Pope, and I beg that you will assure His Eminence the Cardinal Secretary of State that it will receive the most considerate attention from us possible in the circumstances.
With sentiments of the most sincere respect and appreciation,
Sincerely yours,
[Woodrow Wilson]
