Dearest Trudie

Tuesday night: 7.30 pm Library—“Govenor” Ross reading the Evening paper. 2324 Mass Ave.

The return trip was uneventful. I read Ariel all the way into New York and was fascinated by it. When I awoke in Washington seven o’clock Monday morning, it was raining hard. It poured all day Monday and night and just stopped this afternoon. Things have been generally quiet. Except all Washington is wild over Washington Ball Team winning the pennant. Crowds stood out in the rain yesterday watching the score board

—George Harrison called me yesterday. He will be on hand for the opening game Saturday. I have invited Higgins and his bride. That leaves one seat in the box allowing two for George. Wish so much you were going to be here. I miss you and the boys but am happily looking forward to next week when you all come home. AB Hancock spent last night here at 2324

—He thought Calamint a bargain at $7500—and said if she is in foal to High Time and you will let me examine her why I’ll take her at that price. So he is to let me hear from him next week— Fluvanna won to-day at Jamaica—no bets—and Scoop won at Havre de Grace paying 13–1—I called Mr. Burch Sunday night. He was real blue, but said My Own showed no bad effects from the race.

I am going around to see Miss E. They phoned me this morning and asked me to dinner. I declined and said I would come about eight o’clock, Gov. Ross and I dined alone.

Davis is working away at 1600 and making progress—Have not been out to Highland Manor on account of the rain.

I have been fighting a cold but it is not bad this time. Dr Axson lunched with me to-day at Metropolitan Club. He is very blue and depressed but better than he was last week at which time he acted as if the bottom had dropped out entirely.

Pardon stationery. It is the only here. Love and kisses to you and the boys.
