Dear Doctor Johnson:
A letter from Mr. Waggoner’s office notifying Admiral Grayson of Mr. Waggoner’s recent operation was received yesterday morning, just a few hours before he sailed for France. I telegraphed him and I am sure that if he received the wire in time he must have made an effort to get in touch with you.
I know the Admiral regretted to have to leave the country knowing his good friend from Texas was confined to a hospital near by, and inasmuch as I shall be in touch with him by cable from time to time, I should appreciate it if I could be notifed of any change in Mr. Waggoner’s condition.
Very truly yours,
Gladys R. Newman
