Text
THE WHITE HOUSE
Your telegram of the seventh instant reaches my hands with some delay, which I greatly regret. It is indeed encouraging to receive your eloquent message, and I sincerely appreciate the evidence it conveys of the close interlinking of the sentiments of our two peoples in support of the common cause under whose standards we move in harmonious defence of the eternal principles of civilization, justice and human rights on which our two commonwealths are based. May the fortunes of war strengthen the fraternal ties that have so long and so happily existed between our two peoples.
