THE WHITE HOUSE

His Imperial Majesty

I welcome Your Majesty's earnest words of greeting, and thank you in the name of my fellow–countrymen. Ever jealous of our civil rights and devoted to the maintenance of the sacred structure of our free commonwealth, we of the Western World find ourselves today among the defenders of the eternal principles of freedom and justice cherished by all mankind and are proud to be associated in the brotherhood of self–respecting independent nations in a common cause against the attempted domination of ruthless power. The spirit of unity for the accomplishment of a high purpose of paramount benefit to the human race animates our two countries and is a happy augury of their enduring fellowship.
