We have the honor to advise that at a special meeting of the Executive Committee of our Board of Directors, held this Friday morning, it was the sense of our body, in view of the numerous protests reaching Washington from various parts of the country against the order of the Fuel Administrator, as of January seventeenth that you be informed of the unswerving and unalterable support of the New Orleans Association of Commerce in the adoption and enforcement of all necessary regulations for the winning of the war and that the actions of the Fuel Admnistrator in this instance be and is hereby endorsed by the business men and manufacturers of New Orleans, as represented in our organization. Assuring you of our complete cooperation in all measures that may receive your sanction in the task in which we have been consecrated in your leadership, with highest esteem,

The President:

At a special meeting of the Board of Directors of the eighteenth, ninet een hundred and eighteen, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:

RESOLVED, That the Manufacturers' and Dealers' League of the City and State of New York, with a membership of over one thousand manufacturing and trading concerns, employing approximately half a million people, endorse through its Board of Directors the action of the Fuel Administrator with the approval of the President of the United States in issuing the coal conservation order requiring as a matter of necessity the shut-down of industries from twenty-third, and trust that the closing of such will relieve the present congestion to an extent that a repetition of such decree will not be necessary in the future.

The President:

With complete confidence that you and your advisers are acting for the best interests of whole people as you see, the manufacturers of the Tonawandas, New York, at meeting today pledged cheerful compliance not only with letter but with spirit of fuel proclamation, despite financial loss and hardship manufacturers of the Tonawandas stand ready to obey orders of Commander-in-Chief in this and all other emergencies.

Ballson, NY, January 18, 1918.

The President:

At a largely attended meeting of the Ballston Spa Chamber of Commerce and citizens of the village, a resolution was adopted as follows: It is the unanimous sentiment of the one hundred business men present in proof of our loyalty to our government and our willingness to again serve our country when duty calls, do hereby aggree to obey the law orders of the national administration. All interests affected by the order including manufacturers, merchants and hotel keepers heartily join in adopting the resolution.

Pittsburgh, PA, January 18, 1918.

The President:

While yesterday I was doubtful about the effect of the fuel order I have the pleasure to report to you today that the workingmen of the Pittsburgh District are most cheerfully accepting it and loyally cooperating in its enforcement. This is a clear demonstration of how the plain people of America will stand back of their President in any crisis.

The President:

At the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce the following resolution was unanimously adopted and secretary instructed to communicate same to you: Resolved, that in view of the exigencies of war which make unusual demands on every national interest the Anniston Chamber of Commerce extends to the government of the United States its assurance that it will cooperate in every way and be obedient to every demand.
