A Petition
Citizens Committee of Stamford,
Stamford, Conn.
To His Excellency President Woodrow Wilson,
White House, Washington D.C.
We, the Citizens Committee of the city of Stamford, in the State of Connecticut; do hereby petition you and through you every member of the present 66th Congress, 1st, to exercise your just and legal authority for the enforcement of the 13th-14th- & 15th amendments to the constitution of the United States; and 2nd to enact a law sufficiently strong and elaborate enough to more than cope with and utterly stamp out the lynching evil, which so shamefully continues to drench our beloved homeland in blood. And we further pray, that, for the sake of making our claims of democracy and religion a REALITY instead of hypocritical pretensions; that the foregoing be given immediate attention.
