Text

My dear Cary

I see that High Time has finally landed in a good berth. I am delighted. I don’t know how much you got out of it but I hope a lot.

I think you’ve got another horse that will make better than this one and that is my beloved Happy Argo. Under no conditions would I want him to be sold nor any other man to have any interest in him. I always want to keep title to him myself as I never want him to pass out of my hands. I am too devoted to him. But I want you to use him and make what you can out of him; only I don’t want him sold or any interest in him pass to anybody else.

I am off to the South with my family. My earnest hopes go out that peace and contentment will come to you and yours in the coming years.

Affectionately yours,

Bernie
