Text

Dear Dr. Grayson

As a former editor of the Purple, the boys on the mountain count on me for some help each year. I want to send them a sketch of your life & work, together with a good photograph.

Before writing I have tried to secure a photograph for your approval from the authorized source, Underwood & Underwood. But they inform me that another firm, in Washington, has charge of your pictures, and that I must write directly to you. I regret that I cannot spare you the trouble.

In order to be quite sure that no mistakes can occur, will you give me the facts of your life and work up to 1912 in outline?I hope that this plan will meet with your approval and that I may hear from you soon.

Please accept my congratulations upon your engagement and my sincere wishes for a lifetime of happiness for you and Miss Gordon.

Yours sincerely

Waldo Adler.
