Dear Carey
Col. Allen wrote me that he had spoken to you with reference to my appointment as Aide to Pres Wilson & that you had greatly extended yourself in the matter; this just a line to thank you, and to assure you that I greatly appreciate your kindness—should any opportunity I in the future arise when I can be of service to you will reciprocate—I am very anxious to get the position and believe that I can make good—have had I suppose more experience in that line than any officer of my age in the service—Have served as Aide to the following—
Maj. Genl. F. D. Grant,
Hon . Geo Lucker—Pres. Jamestown Expo.
The Secretary of War—
Gov. Genl. Philippines—Cameron Forbes.
Joaquin Cassasus—I would appreciate any thing you may do for me—I leave here for Columbus NM on the 6th—if anything should arise please wire me there—Many thanks old —hope we will be clearing the brush soon.
Yours as ever
