Néanmoins, comme je viens de lire dans les journaux que vous allez donner un dîner et une danse ce soir-là, je m'empresse d'accepter avec un très vif plaisir pour tous les deux.

I received your very kind invitation, but because my French isn’t of the first order, I was afraid I didn’t understand it in its totality. Nevertheless, when I came to read in the papers that you were going to give a dinner and dance this evening, I hurry to accept with great pleasure for both.
