Dear Mother,
Another week passed by and its four months to day since we landed in this mud-hole.
It has rained most all day today and is still at it. Went to Pontchateau to day in a three-ton Liberty truck and rode with the driver. A captain and a nurse was on the front seat also and a bunch of privates and non-coms in the back but it had a cover over it so they did not get wet. Those old Liberty trucks sure have got the power and this was a new one that has only been run about a month. Most of the autos and trucks here are Fords, G.MC's and Libertys and an occassional Cadillac eight.
Recevied yours and Essie's letters Friday which is the only letter I've had from the states for a week. Thursday I got a letter from Berenice Lemmen and he has moved recently. I see by the Stars and Stripes that the 85th Division is supposed to all be at the embankation post by the first of April. So that will mean a lot more of the Allendale boys back home before long but imagine that Gemmen and Favill bring] up the rear. We have lots of rumours in regard to moving from here but dont know what will happen to us.
Had an inspection of our equipment last Sat. which was the first we have had over here.
So Newton and Erwin have rented the farm and I'm glad of it and according to the latest, if I don't get home tuite de suite, I'll have a new home to get back too.
That will be nice to have a bungalow on the corner and by the time you get this letter, Ill have another sister-in-law. Im wishing them all the good luck in the world and wish I was going to be to the wedding but that is impossible if he gets married April 16th. I dont feel like writing tonight so Ill call this good and write more later.
Lovingly,
Earl
