Text

My dear Mr. President

There are two historical matters about which I should like to be allowed to speak to you a few minutes, if you ever have any time to spare for such a purpose. One is the matter of a National Archive Building, in respect to which I am charged by the American Historical Association to do everything that I can, but which has for some time hung fire in Congress. The other is the matter of a proper Commission on National Historical Publications, of which I wrote to you before your inauguration, sending a report of a provisional committee on the subject.
I have been either out of the country or out of Washington most of the time since your administration began, but have had great happiness in watching from afar its progress and its success.

Believe me, with the most abundant good wishes,
JF Jameson.

Honorable Woodrow Wilson,
LLD,
President of the United States.
