My dear Mr. President

It was very thoughtful and friendly of you to write. Naturally I was extremely surprised and pleased to get your letter.
I expect to spend several days next week in Washington and I am going to ask Mr. Tumulty if you will not let me come in and speak with you for a moment some day when you have a little leisure. I have refrained from calling in the thought that to save your time and vitality is probably as friendly a service as one can do for you.

Cordially yours,
Mark Sullivan
