After long wrangling — This magazine passed into the IWW control. Haywood, Frank Bohn & his brother William E. Bohn (several yrs taught English, University of Michigan) going into The Editorial Staff, Frank Bohn’s articles in the last two years are frequent. He has special interest in propoganda of a more effective sort. In DEC—1912 issue, for example, he writes on “Public Speaking”,, (pg 464) with the view to train speakers and writers for their work. He recommends with real discrimination a small list of books from the Marx & Engles (selected & separately printed portions of these writers) to academic men like Professor Bogart (Oberlin College) & Professor Channing of Harvard.

Those books lay great stress on the economic interpretation of US history. Editorially and unsigned is a good deal of his work scattered through the members.

See also, Sept 1912 — The National Progressive Party, pg. 228 criticized as “the final attempt to save the capitalistic system, but sure to serve the upbuilding of socialism in the end. because it can’t lower prices, raise wages, mend unemployment or prevent the organization of the unskilled & because it must side with “law & order, in time of strikes. See also (pg 263) same month. Article on the Butte Socialists.

February 1913 — “The Strike of the NY Hotel & Restaurant Workers” pg. 628 & 2nd Article pg 602.

The brother (William E—) writes the “International Notes,, — & radical interpretation of foreign happenings supposed to bear on socialism.

These will I think give fairly what you want. I have selected them among many to show the character & temper of his work —
