Text

My dear Mr. Pindell:

I am writing to ask a very pointed question. Would you be willing to accept the Collectorship of Internal Revenue for the Fifth Illinois District? You see, I am aiming high, and will not be content if I can not get the best, but I did not want to suggest this to McAdoo before I felt that I had your permission to do so.
With warmest regards, I amMr. H. M. Pindell,Peoria, Illinois.
