Text
Dearest Trudie
I was delighted to receive your letter yesterday. I was hungry for news from you. The heat here has been as bad as I ever experienced it. I saw Irene last night, she looked nearly melted. Hope she arrives safely.
I forgot to tell you that Martin wrote me a letter, also told me over the phone the night I talked with him in New York—that his judgment was against betting on Scoop—so we did not lose. I think you should write him a note expressing your pleasure over Vultilla’s victory—also requesting that he give the Jockey and the stable help the usual fees for the kind of race won by your filly.
