Dear Sweetheart.

Thank you for your sweet letter which Mr. Mc Adoo delivered this morning. It was fine to have direct news from you and Gordon. I think that rash will gradually disappear. It often appears—for some unknown reason, as when teething—and disappears—I will attend to the saddle to-morrow, I have been busy all day with the Selection Board—I’m trying to make it go—quick and snapy—well planned scheme for working and arranging data—Conclusions etc—just as my little Trudie would like for it to be done. I feel young when I see myself sitting around the table with four grey haired vetrans—and I the President of the Board.

In separate envelope sent Berry’s letter, bill etc. I’ll pay the bill. He requested in another letter not to send him the money now. Too bad he was skipped over. He wants to be Palmer’s successor.

I payed to-day bill Barber & Ross$65—Moses & Co—$12.50

Alice called this morning to see me, I gave her $2000 on account. She seemed fine & very anxious for news from you & Gordon. Confidentially, the Trip West begins on & ends October 15th. Guesses about it are in the papers—Mr. Ross is back—feeling fine. Dr Rixey is much better. He asks for you & Gordon every day. BMB sends his best so does Dr Boyd and I send all my love—
