Monday.

This has been the biggest day of all. The President was formally made a French Citizen—most elaborate ceremony—long parade and all Paris out cheering, throwing flowers and the air full of music. I never saw so many soldiers.

We called on Clemenceau this afternoon. He said to the President with all the French people I swear friendship eternal to you.

The French and American soldiers—all dislike the English—Feeling is intense.

I ran in to to see Mr Murray to-day. Found him sick in bed. He was certainly one man that was glad to see me. Over-worked—and worn out; will be all right after a little rest.

I am kept busy all day and I think that I am helping the President much. I am keeping a diary and handling many details according your approval. I have a fine aide. Lieut. Cochran. He was formerly BMB’s private & confidential secretary.

I am going out in a few minutes with the President. I miss you terribly—and dear little Gordon. I love you, my darling, with all my heart.
