My dear Mr. President:

I have your kind note of July 25th. I fully appreciate the sentiments you express regarding my stand on various matters during the present crisis.
Let me assure you that I deem it the duty of every patriotic American to forget petty politics and stand by you in your effort to vindicate the country's honor. Do not hesitate to command me whenever I can be of service.
