Text

My dear Mr. President

I received your letter of April 27th enclosing a letter from Miss Boardman with regard to the wisdom of sending to France and England some of the organized hospital units which the Red Cross has created as a reserve for our army.
This work is already in process. General Gorgas is arranging to do just what Miss Boardman suggests, and as soon as the transportation question is settled a start will be made.
I have talked the matter over with General Bridges and with the medical officers of the French Commission and am working sympathetically with them.

Respectfully yours,
Newton D. Baker
Secretary of War.

The President.
The White House.
