Text

My dear Mr. Cuddihy:

I do not know of any message that I have received which has moved me so much as that which you were generous enough to send me on the ninth of April. It is one of the most delightful and inspiring expressions of patriotic feeling and purpose that I have seen and I want you to know how deeply and genuinely I appreciate it.
I have taken the liberty of calling the attention of the Council for National Defense to your very generous offer to open your advertising columns free of charge to the service of the nation, and the attention of the Secretary of the Treasury to your desire to subscribe for $250,000 of the bonds which are to be issued and your willingness to subscribe to them without interest for the first five years.
With genuine gratitude and admiration,

Cordially and sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson
