Text

My dear Miss Daniel:

I am returning to you, herewith, the volume of clippings, photographs, etc., left by you at the Executive offices. The President's illness has resulted in making it very difficult and sometimes painful for him to use the pen. He therefore feels constrained to request that he be excused from writing autographs. I feel sure you will understand.
Secretary to the President.

Sincerely yours,
J.P. Tumulty
