My darling Jessie

Your letter to Nell came tonight and I enclose a check for the tickets. We think Margaret ought by all means to go to the whole series,—and you too if you enjoy them. So we send money for two.
Your pink dress is at last finished and I think gone to the office. The white waist is also for you. The grey gloves, Nellie finds too small, so I send them to Margaret.
There are several other things to go—books for Nell's birthday, &c. &c. but they could not go in the box with the delicate dress so I will keep them until I have time to get the other things for the room.—Am glad the room is looking better.—Am sorry about the ink on the dress. Put milk, or lemon and salt, on it at once and expose it to the bright sun for hours. The longer you put off treating it, the less chance you have to get it out. It should have been done immediately. What dress is it?We got your sweet leter and were immensely amused and interested at your account of how you called the girls to order. Papa thinks you will make an able president!—He has just left for Pittsburgh to make an address,—and it is bedtime, so I must say “goodnight.” With a heart full of love.

Your devoted,
Mother.
