Text
My dear Burleson
Woodrow Wilson
Hon. Albert S. Burleson,
Postmaster General.
The Junior Senator from New York was in to see me yesterday and had this to say about the post office appointment at Buffalo: It seems that he recommended a German Lutheran and that upon some impression he gained at your office he permitted it to be announced in Buffalo that his candidate would be appointed, whereupon the said candidate was serenaded, etc., by various Lutheran societies and his not being appointed has caused him considerable mortification. I mean the candidate.
I remember that we have several times alluded to Buffalo but I do not know that we have discussed the actual condition. I write this because the Senator is obviously anxious that I should acquaint myself with the situation.
Woodrow Wilson
Hon. Albert S. Burleson,
Postmaster General.
