Text
My dear Senator:
Woodrow Wilson
Hon. Gilbert M. Hitchcock,
United States Senate.
Your note of the twenty–sixth was peculiarly welcome. For some weeks past I have been wishing that I might have a talk with you about banking and currency. I hesitated to invite an interview, because I shrink more than I think many persons realize from seeming to try to press my own views upon men who have an equal responsibility with myself. I wonder if it would be possible for you to give me the pleasure of seeing you this evening at the White House –– at, say, half–past eight.
The messenger who carries this will wait for an answer.Woodrow Wilson
Hon. Gilbert M. Hitchcock,
United States Senate.
