Text

My dear Mr. Ely:

I am afraid I will seem to you very unserviceable, but really my judgment is frankly against what you advise. I see little points of irritation already which convince me that my intervention in the matter of the pending elections in Jersey City might be much more harmful than beneficial. The lines are clearly drawn and surely no voter can mistake the issue.

Cordially and faithfully yours,
Woodrow Wilson

Mr. Matt C. Ely.Company.
