Text
My dear Mr. Secretary
Hon. Franklin K. Lane,
Secretary of the Interior.

Mr. Tumulty has handed me your note of March third, sending me the enclosed. I entirely agree with the writer. I think we would be doing a great disservice to a fine cause if we were to displace Miss Lathrop, and I had quite made up my mind that it is out of the question that we should permit anybody to push her out.
In haste
Hon. Franklin K. Lane,
Secretary of the Interior.
