Text
Dear Mr. Secretary:
I am very sorry about the misunderstanding which seems to have arisen regarding my partner deGersdorf. In fairness to him as well as on account of his partners, I am anxious to do all that I can to remove that misunderstanding. I therefore venture to address to you the enclosed letter. Please call upon me in case you desire any further information.
Let me take this occasion to express my appreciation of the opportunity you have given me for work which has been the most interesting work of my life and, I trust, of some service to the Government.
I have become so absorbed in the work that my only ambition is to continue to be of such service as I can in the prosecution of the War.
I hope you understand that I am at your disposal if you feel that you can use me.
I remain, as ever,
Very sincerely yours,
Paul D. Cravath
Hon. William G. McAdoo,
