TUESDAY,
The trip to Europe began on Tuesday, December 3rd, when the President left Washington at midnight. A special train made the run to Hoboken without incident. Secretary Tumulty accompanied the President as far as Hoboken but returned immediately afterward to the White House in order to remain there, to represent the President, and to keep him advised at all times of the progress of home affairs.
