Dear Sir
It occurred to me that you might be related to the late Dr Wm Grayson of Virginia and that you might appreciate something that was formerly worn by him—He was our family physician for many years and I was named after him—At his death he left me his watch & Seal—which I wore for many years. I doubt if you would care to use the watch as it is very old, heavy, & a key winder & now a poor time keeper—As I am now advanced in years & have no son to leave it to should be pleased to send it to you should you care to have it—My Father & Mother came from Richmond Va and Dr Grayson was an intimate friend as well as family physician & lived near us in Brooklyn NY—Let me hear from you if you think you would like to have the Watch or Seal, or both—The Watch has his name inside the case & the Seal I think has initials WC.
Hoping to hear from you I am
Yours truly
Wm Grayson Adams
