Text
Dear Mrs. Alderman:
No message I received has pleased me more than yours. I have wanted to write to you in my own hand writing but due to pressure of work I have delayed, and now I must not only apologized for the delay but for the use of a typewriter. The first three weeks of my administration I was laid up at home in bed with a severe muscular rheumatism or neuritis of some kind and then followed the pressure of the annual Red Cross convention. Since then I have had to make a number of out-of-town talks and am leaving today for another trip to New York. And so it has gone - nevertheless I do apologize for this delay. Nothing you could say would have pleased me more than your reference to what Dr. Alderman would have thought of this appointment. As you know, I have always held the greatest esteem and admiration for him.
With all good wishes, and thanking you again for your gracious note, I am,
Sincerely yours,
Cary T. Grayson
Chairman
