My Dear Dr. Grayson
Unsolicited advice is not always desireable, but reading your bulletins from day to day in regard to the President’s condition, and noting the condition of enlarged and painful Prostate gland, I am tempted to give you my experience in such cases, having treated quite a number of similar cases in recent years and invariably with good results. I give large doses of equal quantities of the combined bromides of Sodium, Ammonium, and Potassium, in a base of Elixir Lactated Pepsin, where there is much pain or trouble with the passage of the urine I add small doses of Tr. O, and very minute doses of Fl. Ext. of Belladon. I never rely upon the tablets or pills of the Triple Bromides, but I buy the salts a near chemically pure as they are to be had and combine them. the doses in the first place must be large, 20–30 oz 40 grs. until the effect is produced then smaller doses at frequent intervals I have no doubt that you with your able consultants are fully able to treat your distinguished patient, but haveing the Presidents Welfare at heart, this suggestion can at least do no harm
I beg your pardon in offering this unsolicited letter, and should it be of any service to you I should be grateful to know.
Yours Very sincerely,
Wm S. Buehler, MD
