Text

My darling,

The sound of your voice over the telephone to-day made me feel so happy. I am counting on leaving here Saturday either at one or four o’clock—preferably at one—However, I shall either telephone or telegraph when I know exactly.

I hope to finish the Board proceedings to-morrow afternoon or Saturday forenoon. It has been a most difficult and trying task—much more so than I anticipated. The President tires very easily these days and I am trying to persuade him to go slower and give himself more of an opportunity to regain his normal tone. He has promised to do so. Mr. Ross left for Saratogathis to-day. BMB is here testifying before the Foreign Relations Committee. It is seems to be the impression quite generally that the Republicans are making a mess of things. Congress has hopelessly adjourned until September.

Delighted you and the boys are in “tip top” shape.

With a heartful of love and hoping to see you Saturday
