Dearest,

Your two letters made me happy, one arrived this morning and the other to-night. I have just returned from a sale. Prices were better to-night, an average of $360000 a piece.

Had a nice letter from Miss Edith telling me all was going well and not to hurry back—that she would telegraph or write if I was needed.

I thought that you would be interested in the mirrors of Washington—also sent one to Miss E. as she told me she was anxious to see it but WW would not allow her to buy it. I sent it without a card.

Gnome’s race, of course, was a disappointment but he was not trained for a long race, he lead for about a mile. His mouth was very sore and as Keoghtold tightened up a bit on the reins to save him fror the stretch run—Gnome seemed to think a pull—however, light on that tender mouth was a signal to stop which he proceeded to do and all the horses passed him—then he rallied to come again and was going at the end but it was too much for him.

Mr. Burch was over confident about his preparation, I am afraid. Every one remarked how fat Gnome looked. Keogh frankly said that he did not think Gnome had been trained enough for such a long race. He has been somewhat nervous since that race but is improving now. I visit him every morning & give him a lump of sugar which seems to please and soothe him—Love Tap has done well and been in the money both starts— & in excellent time. This will be a busy week—I have been taking things quietly—sleeping a lot. I get up anywhere from five to seven o’clock and have a ride on Dixie—I am sleepy before ten o’clock, at night. Tell Gordon his Electric lights will be coming soon—if I can find some here. I understand the size & kind he wishes. I am sending Cary one, too.

See Mrs Barklie every day. I am buying her off with tips. Riddles & Jeffords just the same.

I have won $90.00 & all expenses, so far. With apologises for a very sleepy letter—Dearest love to you all—
