Text
My dear Admiral
The cheering news of the overwhelming defeat of the Fall amendments to the League Covenant is more than off-set by the reports of the President’s illness. Mrs. Chilton and I have just been discussing the terrible situation which would befall the country now if his vigorous influence should be impaired by serious illness.
My anxiety is so great, that I am in hopes that you will trust a line to me. It will be sacred. But whatever you decide to do about this will be all right. With sincere regards to Mrs. G. and you, and with my dependable sympathy & interest always around you, I am,Admiral Grayson
Sincerely
W. E. CHILTON
