Text

My dearest,

This has been another real hot day. Board meeting, and saw several patients this morning—including Nevin out at Clarendon—numerous visitors—, lunched with a big Kappa Sigma gathering at the Washington hotel to-day. Enjoyed meeting numerous old friends and others—very much. Dr Boyd is having a real swell time. Speaks so affectionatly about Gertrude.

This afternoon—The President and Mrs Wilson and me went for a motor ride out to Rockville—then by along the road and the stream of water where you and I and Sandy had a picnic lunch—and Sandy distinguished himself by going into the s water after sticks thrown in—and back via the seventh street road and home through Rock Creek Park—a total distance of 41½ miles, the only time I have been cool since my return.

The ride did the President good. He is improving satisfactorily. We talk lots about you and the boys. I miss you three more and more and love you still more.

Good-night, my dear—
