Text

My Sweetheart

Pardon, please, the paper and pencil. I’m on the train between Chaumount and Paris and writing in bed—I hope you can read it. We have spent the day with the American Army—& motored to various places where units of the Army are stationed. A fine view of the country in France. Dined with the soldiers. The President’s speech equals Lincoln's Gettysburg speech. We expect to reach Callais in the morning and cross the Channel arriving in London about 2.30—P.M We are to stop at Buckingham Palace.

Train to-night cold and uncomfortable. This poor note is to let you know that I am thinking of you and hoping your Christmas is a happy one—& that I miss you and love you very dearly.

Goodnight,

CTG
