Mr. WT Waggoner
Fort Worth, Texas

Dear Mr. Waggoner, -

Before taking the train for Kentucky I want to send you these few lines to tell you how much I regret the fact that you will not be by my side at the Derby. I am going to be there pulling for you as hard as I can. No man connected with the thoroughbred horse breeding business deserves success more than you do and I hope you are going to have good luck and lots of it.

Our mutual friend, Mr. Raymond Dale, spent the night with me and I judge from his conversation that he is here on business for you. Of course he did not confide in me and I did not ask any details. If you are going to sell your buy a stallion I hope that you wont take any but the very best. There is an abundance of mediocre horses. I have had my eye open for a stallion for you but have not anything in view that I could recommend. I think we would have to get some secret service man to handle the deal for if people dreamed that I were representing you and that you had offered a million dollars for REIGH COUNT they might ask two million the next time. I think Mr. Hertz owes you a lot of free services to REIGH COUNT for the advertisement you have given him. Next fall if I can arrange it I am going to try to come down and spend a few days with you and we will go over your list of mares as to blood lines, confirmation etc, and if we can pick the proper stallions to mate them to we shall breed a Derby winner. In any event it will give me an opportunity of another good visit with you.

The authorities are still dickering about the Veteran’s Hospital and they or I or anyone else know what they are doing to do except that the hospital is to be located in the State of Texas somewhere - or more definitely within 100 miles of Dallas.

With kindest regards and best wishes, I am

Sincerely your friend,
