Text

TUESDAY, All today was spent traveling towards San Francisco. The trip was a beautiful one, running through the picturesque Oregon and California territory. Two deer and a large quantity of fruit of all kinds were put on board the special train at points along the road. The crowds gathered everywhere to greet the President and to cheer him. Enroute he announced the appointment of the Industrial Commission that was to meet in Washington on October 6th and endeavor to bring about some arrangement whereby industrial chaos in the United States might be prevented.
