THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON.

My dear Mr. Elliott:

Immediately upon receiving your letter of May twenty-first about a representative of the Associated Press accompanying General Pershing and his staff, I took the matter up with the Secretary of War and now enclose you a copy of his reply which I am sure you will find frank and conclusive. I am sure that Mr. Stone and all associated with him will recognize the spirit in which we are acting.

Cordially and sincerely yours,
(Signed) Woodrow Wilson.
