Text

My dear Alderman

Your letter of yesterday from New York says just what I wish all Americans might feel with regard to the sort of peace that should be established, and the spirit in which it should be inaugurated and maintained, and you may be sure that your own generous personal words with regard to myself are deeply and warmly appreciated.

Cordially and sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson
