Text

My Dear Mr. President:

Mr. Pfeiffer sent me a copy of the attached letter. We have taken up with the British Government the subject of securing the release of all American merchandise held in Dutch ports, and we are expecting an answer any day on the subject. Mr. Pfeiffer knows this, and I suggest that, if you write him you have referred his letter to the State Department and that you understand that Department is making every effort to secure the relief that he seeks, he will be satisfied.

Y
ours Faithfully,

Frank L. Polk

Enclosure

The President,
The White House.
