Text
My dear Mr. Bacon:
May I not acknowledge with very deep and sincere appreciation your letter of April seventh in which you convey the desire of the Special Committee of the Union League Club of New York on Immediate Defense and National Service to help the Government in its defense of the country in the prosecution of the war and its wish to know how it can serve most effectually? The names of the members of the Committee make it evident that there may be many occasions when their services or advice will be extremely useful to the Government and I want to express officially my own consciousness of the generosity and importance of the offer.
Sincerely yours,
Hon. Robert Bacon,
Union League Club,
New York City.
