Text

My dear McAdoo

I should like very much to discuss the matter with you that Mr. Macrae sets forth in the enclosed letter. I am interested very deeply and from of old in the matter of the importation of books. It is a sin and a shame that there should be any duty on them at all, and I should like to cooperate with you in making the duty as low as we can in conformity with the law.

Woodrow Wilson
