Text

My dear Mr. Hapgood:

I am delighted to know that you are to take charge of Harper’s Weekly, and I know how vital it will become out of your touch. You may be sure that I shall not be slow to send you any suggestions, such as you so kindly asked for, that may occur to me. I shall have you very much in mind.
Do you know Mr. Charles Ferguson (who lives at the National Arts Club, and who is struggling to endure his connection with the Hearst papers)? He is one of the most brilliant writers I know, and one of the most thoughtful and idealistic men. It occurred to me that he might, if you liked him, be very serviceable to you on the Weekly.
Is poor William Garrett Brown still going to be able to write? He is a wonderful fellow.
In haste, congratulating the cause on your return to the desk

Woodrow Wilson

,Mr. Norman Hapgood,
New York City.
