Text

My dear Sam:

When I left Trenton I did not speak to you about coming down to Washington with me, because I was not sure what there was to offer you.
I now find that there is in this office a position very similar to the one you have occupied at Trenton and it would give me a great deal of satisfaction if you could come down and take it, for we have all come to like and trust you in a very unusual degree.
The post pays $1200 a year. I am not sure that it will be worth your while to take it, but I am so anxious that you should know how highly I have valued your services that I want to offer it to you in the earnest hope that you may think it worth your while.
Mr. Tumulty and all join in cordial messages.

Sincerely yours,
Woodrow Wilson

Mr. Samuel Gordon,Trenton, New Jersey.
