Text

My dear Mr. Reed:

I need not tell you how deeply gratified I have been by the action of the New Hampshire Legislature in electing Mr. Hollis Senator. But apparently it is not permitted progressives to be satisfied with anything, and I am writing to urge that you will use your utmost influence with the powers that be in the state government to push forward the pending legislation with regard to corporations, particularly that legislation modeled upon the statutes we have just so successfully put through in New Jersey. I feel that it is distinctly in the line of Democratic principle and practice that the states should undertake legislation of this kind, and I am very glad to see New Hampshire one of those that lead the way.
If you could point out to me any proper way in which I may use my influence in this matter, I should be very glad indeed to take your lead.
In haste

Woodrow Wilson

Hon, Eugene E. Reed,
